The terrorist group Hamas supported Lula da Silva ahead of the elections in Brazil

The Palestinian terrorist group Hamas once again expressed its support for the socialist dictator of Brazil, Lula da Silva, following the speech delivered by the leader on September 22, 2026, during the opening of the United Nations General Assembly.

The reaction came through Khaled Qaddoumi, political representative and official spokesperson for Hamas in Tehran, Iran. In a statement sent to the Brazilian media Metrópoles, the leader praised the stance taken by Lula regarding the conflict in the Gaza Strip and celebrated the criticisms against Israel.

In his message, Qaddoumi described Lula's position as "positive" and stated that the Brazilian dictator "chose to be on the right side of history". He also personally described him as a "defender of Palestinian rights".

The support from the Hamas representative came after Lula's statements during his address to the United Nations. The Brazilian leader criticized the actions of the Israeli government and backed the Palestinians.

Qaddoumi holds a position within the political and diplomatic structure of Hamas in Iran. As the political representative and spokesperson for the organization in Tehran, his role includes managing the group's interests with the Iranian regime and acting as a liaison with other terrorist actors in the region.

In his statement, the Hamas leader particularly highlighted Lula's criticisms of the government led by Benjamin Netanyahu.

This serious support for the Brazilian leader by a terrorist group comes just days before a presidential election, which is highly contested between his candidacy and the right-wing opposition led by Flavio Bolsonaro.

The message came after Lula's intervention before the UN General Assembly, held on September 22, 2026, as part of the opening of the international body's session.

Qaddoumi's statement thus once again showcased Hamas's support for the Brazilian dictator regarding his position on the conflict in Gaza.

The leader of the terrorist group not only described Lula's stance as "positive," but also asserted that the leader "chose to be on the right side of history" and presented him as a "defender of Palestinian rights."
