The ruling party imposed a new scheme and removed Kirchnerism from key positions

La Libertad Avanza carried out a major reorganization in the Senate of the Argentine Nation and removed Kirchnerism from all the leadership positions in the body. The Justicialist bloc, which for years monopolized key positions, was left without representation in the formal leadership of the Chamber.
The decision was made in the preparatory session, after a parliamentary labor meeting led by Patricia Bullrich, where a new proportionality scheme was established to distribute the positions.
Although the PJ retains 25 seats and remains the largest minority, it lost every one of the institutional positions that it historically used to influence the functioning of the Senate.
Internal rupture and loss of control
One of the determining factors was the fracture of the Kirchnerist bloc itself. Senator Carolina Moisés broke with the group together with Guillermo Andrada and Sandra Mendoza and formed the Convicción Federal bloc.

That move left Kirchnerism weakened ahead of the vote. The vice presidency of the Senate, which traditionally correplied to the largest minority, went to Moisés and not to the K bloc.
The provisional presidency will remain in the hands of Bartolomé Abdala. In addition, the first vice presidency will be held by Carolina Losada and the second by Alejandra Vigo.
Kirchnerism denounces, but loses the vote
From the PJ, members questioned the interpretation of the rules. The head of the bloc, José Mayans, spoke of "abuse of power" and criticized the methods. However, the vote was clear.
The official proposal obtained 45 votes in favor, 25 against, and one abstention. The result left Kirchnerism completely outside the leadership structure.
Change of era in the upper chamber

The decision marks a turning point. For years, Kirchnerism used its parliamentary weight to secure strategic positions even when it did not have its own majority. This time, the ruling party managed to build agreements with provincial sectors, the Radicals, and PRO to redefine the power structure.
The political message is forceful: the Senate left behind the dominance of the K bloc and opened a new stage of leadership.
La Libertad Avanza is thereby consolidating its institutional influence and is moving forward in building majorities that will allow it to push its agenda without constraints from Kirchnerism, which is going through one of the moments of greatest parliamentary weakness.
