The former Buenos Aires City Government head and failed presidential pre-candidate, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, confirmed his candidacy in this year's legislative elections in Buenos Aires City, although he avoided specifying whether he will participate in the May elections for the Buenos Aires Legislature or in the October elections to obtain a seat in the Chamber of Deputies or the Senate.
Through a letter titled "I'm Back", published on his social media, Rodríguez Larreta stated that he is working with a "great team". His announcement took the political landscape by surprise and opens a very tough internal conflict within PRO.
"I will be there, as a legislator, as a deputy, or as a senator, to debate the city we deserve. The city we built together. The same one that is now degraded", expressed the former presidential pre-candidate, who lost in the PASO to Patricia Bullrich, in a critique of Jorge Macri's management.

This new move deepens the fracture within PRO, led by Mauricio Macri. Additionally, the Security Minister, who won in the Juntos por el Cambio primaries but failed to reach the runoff after being surpassed by President Milei, also doesn't recognize his leadership.
In his message, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta launched criticisms both at the current Buenos Aires City Government head, Jorge Macri, and at the national leadership of PRO.
