Starting from August 1, those using public transportation in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA) will face a new increase in ticket prices. The increases will affect buses, trains, and subways,

The increases are due to the current fare adjustment formulas and are in addition to the periodic adjustments that have been applied in recent months.

How much will it cost to travel by train starting in August?

The fares for metropolitan trains will see an approximate increase of 11.63% for users with a registered SUBE card.

The new prices will be as follows:

  • First section: $480.

  • Second section: $624.

  • Third section: $768.

On the other hand, those without a registered SUBE or who pay the fare without registration will have to pay a significantly higher ticket price. In those cases, the fare will cost $1,600.

What will be the new value of the bus ticket?

Buses operating in the AMBA will also increase their fares starting from August 1, with an update of 3.9%.

The adjustment comes from the current formula, which considers the latest data from the Consumer Price Index (CPI) reported by Indec for June, at 1.9%, plus an additional 2% aimed at covering the operational costs of the service.

With this increase, the minimum fare for lines dependent on the province of Buenos Aires will be $1,105.48 for those using a registered SUBE.

Meanwhile, for the lines managed by the City of Buenos Aires, the minimum fare will rise to $853.01.

The measure will apply throughout the AMBA

The subway service in the City will also implement a new fare adjustment from the first day of August.

The ticket price will increase from $1,621 to $1,685.26, maintaining the discount scheme for frequent passengers.

As is currently the case, those making more than 20, 30, or 40 monthly trips will continue to access progressive discounts on the ticket price, a measure aimed at reducing the impact of the increase for passengers who regularly use the service to access their jobs, training centers, or homes.
