Independiente is facing a new administrative complication that directly impacts its sports planning. After starting the Clausura Tournament with a 2-0 victory against Estudiantes de La Plata, the Avellaneda club received a new ban from FIFA that prevents it from registering new signings.
The sanction originated from a claim filed by Olimpia of Paraguay regarding the transfer of defender Facundo Zabala. The Paraguayan institution approached the relevant FIFA bodies to demand payment of a debt amounting to one million dollars, to which accumulated interest must be added.
Until Independiente resolves the conflict and pays the claimed amount, it will not be able to formally proceed with the incorporation of new players during the current transfer market.
