The president of the World Zionist Organization (WZO), Yaakov Hagoel, praised Argentine president Javier Milei for the country's stance against antisemitism and highlighted the actions of Argentine institutions in response to expressions of hate against the Jewish community.

Hagoel stated that Milei's leadership represents a “model of moral integrity” that should be adopted by other nations in the free world to confront antisemitism.

The statements came after the removal of federal judge Alfredo López from Mar del Plata for misconduct, in a process where antisemitic expressions published by the magistrate on social media were analyzed.

The Zionist leader particularly emphasized the actions of Argentine institutions and linked the decision to the political leadership of the country.

“I wholeheartedly support the strong, determined, and inflexible stance of the judicial system and leadership in Argentina, under the guidance of President Javier Milei”, Hagoel affirmed.

In this regard, he considered that the Argentine response could serve as an example for other countries facing the rise of antisemitism.

“This is a model of moral integrity that all nations in the free world must adopt in the fight against the scourge of antisemitism”, he added.

The recognition also constitutes international support for the Argentine government's policy of rejecting antisemitic expressions and defending the Jewish community, a position that Milei has made one of the cornerstones of his foreign policy and his relationship with Israel.

The removal of Judge Alfredo López

Hagoel specifically referred to the case of the federal judge from Mar del Plata, whose removal was linked during the process to antisemitic expressions disseminated through social media.

For the president of the WZO, the decision represents an important precedent for those in public office and, especially, for those with responsibilities within the Judiciary.

“The decision of the authorities of law and justice in Argentina to remove a federal judge from his position for expressions of antisemitism and hate on social media is a first-rate moral and historical precedent”, he stated.

The leader emphasized that holding a public position entails an additional responsibility and that those in authority must respect the rights of all citizens, regardless of their religion.

“Anyone in a position of authority, especially a judge who harbors racist and Judeophobic views, is unfit to exercise the judiciary or decide the fate of litigants”, he affirmed.

“Anyone who does not respect a person for being Jewish cannot represent the law”

Hagoel also argued that antisemitism cannot be tolerated within state institutions or in the public sphere.

“Anyone who does not respect the rights of a person simply for being Jewish cannot represent the law”, he stated.

The leader added that the fight against antisemitism must extend to both the public space and the digital realm, as well as to the institutions of the State itself.

“The Jewish people will no longer remain silent in the face of antisemitism: neither in the streets, nor on social media, and certainly not within official institutions”, he affirmed.

The statement adds to the numerous endorsements that Milei's government has received from Israel and international Jewish community organizations for its position against antisemitism and its alignment with the State of Israel.

“Argentina has shown that hate is not inevitable”

Hagoel concluded his message with a strong acknowledgment of the Argentine institutional response and presented the case as a signal for other countries.

“Argentina has shown today that hate is not an inevitable reality, but a norm that must be uprooted”, he concluded.

The definition seeks to highlight the actions of Argentine institutions in the face of antisemitic expressions and, at the same time, to emphasize Milei's political role in an agenda that the government considers a priority: the defense of religious freedom, the rejection of antisemitism, and the strengthening of the strategic alliance with Israel.
