This Friday, the Israeli Army reported that Mohamed Hassan Mohamed Awad, a Palestinian terrorist linked to the kidnapping and murder of the Bibas family, was eliminated in an airstrike carried out in the northern Gaza Strip.
Awad was part of the Muhayidin Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Muhayidin Movement, a minor terrorist faction based in the enclave. He was one of the terrorists who participated in the raid on the Nir Oz kibbutz during the October 7, 2023 attacks and led the kidnapping of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, Awad, who also headed the organization's Intelligence area, is also identified as responsible for the death of the dual Israeli-American citizen Gadi Haggai and his wife, Judith Weinstein, as well as the kidnapping of several Thai workers during the attacks.

"As part of his role in the terrorist organization, Awad was dedicated until his death to recruiting terrorist agents in Judea and Samaria (the biblical name for the West Bank) and within Israel, through whom he carried out terrorist attacks against Israelis," the Army stated in a communiqué published on social media.
The case of the Bibas family caused a strong controversy in Israel after authorities revealed that the Hamas terrorist group violated the ceasefire agreement by delivering, on February 20, the body of a person whose remains did not completely match those of Shiri Bibas. At that time, Hamas claimed that the remains "had been mixed" with those of other victims after an Israeli bombing in Gaza.
A day later, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed the receipt of new remains, this time effectively corresponding to the hostage kidnapped by the Palestinian group. This identification was ratified on February 22 by the Hostages and Missing Families Forum.

Meanwhile, Hamas declared that Shiri and her children died in November 2023 as a result of an "Israeli airstrike" which, according to them, was "ordered" directly by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom they held responsible for the deaths.
