Previously, Ibarzabal played a key role in the normative design of the main policies of the La Libertad Avanza administration. Her influence was crucial in the drafting of the "Law of Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentines," the electoral reform that included the elimination of the PASO, and the reorganization of the Government and its dependencies.

When communicating the changes in the area, the official X account, Office of the President, highlighted María Ibarzabal Murphy's key role in several of the most significant reforms of Javier Milei's government.

The Office emphasized her participation in crucial issues such as the structural reform of the Revenue and Customs Control Agency (ARCA), the implementation of the Single Paper Ballot Law, the suspension of the Open, Simultaneous, and Mandatory Primaries (PASO), the elimination of privileges in public companies, and the hereditary appointments.

Additionally, they highlighted her involvement in drafting the recent Decree of Necessity and Urgency related to the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Ibarzabal Murphy had been appointed last April through decree 321, which was signed by President Milei. She also had experience in the private sector, working in prestigious law firms like the Cassagne firm, specializing in Public Law and Economic Regulation.

Although publicly low-profile, Ibarzabal had already been informally and part-time advising Santiago Caputo, with whom she maintained a professional relationship since before the start of the presidential administration in December 2023.

The appointment of María Ibarzabal Murphy to the Legal and Technical Secretariat occurred after the resignation of Javier Herrera Bravo, who left the position for health reasons. Herrera Bravo, a renowned lawyer specialized in Public Law, had been second in the Legal and Technical Secretariat under the direction of Pablo Clusellas during the four years of the Cambiemos government.

In the official statement, President Javier Milei expressed his gratitude to Dr. Herrera Bravo for the services rendered during his administration and, at the same time, showed his full confidence in Dr. Ibarzabal Murphy's ability to lead the Legal and Technical Secretariat of the Nation.
