Jewish organizations are calling on all Jews in New York to evacuate the city
This comes after the victory in the Democratic primaries of Zohran Mamdani, a communist, 'anti-Zionist,' and pro-Palestinian
The Jewish community in New York, United States, views Zohran Mamdani's victory in the Democratic Party's internal elections in the city as dangerous, a communist and radical Muslim politician who seeks to win the mayoralty.
In response to his victory in the primaries, various Jewish organizations published warning messages, urging Jews to leave the city before his inauguration.
Mamdani, born in Uganda and a resident of the United States for six years, currently serves as a state assemblyman for District 36 (Astoria, Queens). He is the son of renowned filmmaker Mira Nair and, although he has Hindu ancestry, he is a radical Muslim.
He defines himself as a communist, "anti-Zionist", and pro-Palestine, and has been a central figure in the most progressive wing of New York's Democratic Party.
After winning the primary election, the Republican Jewish Committee posted the following message on its official X account: "Evacuate New York immediately", as soon as the results indicating Mamdani's victory became known.

This call was joined by the organization Betar Worldwide, which stated: "We urge all Jews to evacuate New York". This is no small matter, since New York is home to the largest Jewish community after Israel.
Concerns are also focused on Mamdani's own statements, who accused Israel of carrying out an alleged "genocide in Gaza" and stated that he would order the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he set foot in New York.
Zohran Mamdani's delusional proposals
The Democratic candidate's proposals have also caused fear. Among his most controversial initiatives is the allocation of USD 65 million in public funds for gender transition treatments, even for minors.

He also proposes a plan for free transportation, subsidized childcare, the expropriation of private supermarkets to be managed by the local government, and a rental law that includes price freezes and requirements for cooling in buildings during heat waves.
According to estimates, the entire program would cost about USD 10 billion, which would be financed with significant tax increases on the wealthy, financial income, and corporations.
The fear comes not only from his economic proposals, but also from his openly hostile rhetoric toward Israel and his closeness to anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian activist groups. Some community leaders warn of a possible hostile environment for religious Jews, recalling recent episodes of antisemitism in the city.
