Kicillof squandered the money on useless programs and is now asking Milei for funds to face El Niño

The communist governor of Buenos Aires Axel Kicillof looked again towards the Casa Rosada in search of resources. After years of management and allocating the provincial budget to multiple political, social, and gender priorities, he is now demanding national funds to face the consequences that the phenomenon of El Niño could generate.

Kicillof presented a contingency plan in light of the possibility of persistent rains over the coming months and took the opportunity to once again criticize the government of Javier Milei. Instead of fully assuming responsibility for provincial infrastructure, the Buenos Aires governor pointed again at the national government and demanded that they transfer resources.

The governor assured that he will demand National Treasury Contributions (ATN) and the Water Fund, funds that, he claimed, the national government has withheld.

Kicillof asks Milei for money again

During the presentation, Kicillof stated: "I will demand that the national government return the money from ATN, from the Water Fund that was stolen from the province of Buenos Aires and from 23 other provinces".

The governor's strategy is once again familiar: when faced with a management problem, demand more resources from the national government.

This time, the argument is the possibility of intense rains and floods related to the El Niño phenomenon. For Kicillof, the response requires planning and resources, but a significant part of the solution he proposes again depends on the national government sending money.

The demand raises questions because the Province of Buenos Aires has its own budget and is responsible for a large part of the infrastructure and prevention policies within its territory.

The governor blamed Milei for public works

Kicillof also used the presentation to attack the President.

"We have a national government that is in denial, flat-earth that cuts public works", the governor fired, referring to the austerity policy implemented by Milei.

The problem of Kicillof's priorities

The demand also puts the priorities of the Buenos Aires government back under scrutiny. Kicillof has managed a multi-million dollar budget for years and maintained an extensive state structure, but now presents the lack of national resources as one of the main obstacles to facing a potential climate emergency.

In this context, the governor tries to establish that the responsibility for the works needed by the Province falls exclusively on the Casa Rosada.

The reality is that flood prevention requires ongoing planning, infrastructure maintenance, and efficient management of public resources, regardless of who governs at the national level.

Kicillof prepares the operation against El Niño

The Province presented a contingency scheme to coordinate the response to potential intense rains. The goal is to anticipate possible floods and establish assistance mechanisms in the face of emergencies.

But while announcing the operation, Kicillof again demands funds from the national government.

The governor expects Milei to send resources for a problem that directly affects the Buenos Aires territory, while holding the national government responsible for the state of public works.

Thus, in the face of a potential climate emergency, Kicillof continues to do what he has been doing since Milei came to power: demanding money from the national government, holding it responsible for the problems, and avoiding having the discussion focus on the decisions of his own administration.
