Leonardo Ponzio will assume a new role within the football structure of River. Within the framework of an internal reorganization and with less influence in the Technical Secretariat since Marcelo Gallardo's return to the bench, the former midfielder will go on to serve as a link between the Youth Divisions, the Reserve, and the First Team.
The role was confirmed in recent hours and will be shared in coordination with Gabriel Rodríguez, who is responsible for the club's youth football. This way, Ponzio will have work that is closer to the daily development of the youth players, contributing his experience and accompanying the training process of the Millonario's future prospects.
Although he will remain connected to the Technical Secretariat, an area that he is part of together with Enzo Francescoli, his involvement has stopped being central in decision-making related to the professional squad.
