The senators of La Libertad Avanza rejected the increase in diets

The senator block of La Libertad Avanza announced that it rejects the increase in parliamentary allowances that will raise the gross salary of members of the Upper House to around $11.5 million per month. In the message, the liberal bloc argued that the increase is inadequate in the current context and stated that political leadership must act coherently in the face of the country's economic situation. The statement notes that senators' incomes are already well above the average salary of Argentines and that it is not appropriate to move forward with further increases

The text released by La Libertad Avanza pointed out that millions of citizens make daily efforts in a scenario of economic recomposition, so politics should accompany this situation with responsibility. Along these lines, the bloc affirmed that its commitment is to maintain conduct in accordance with the principles promoted by the national government

The position of the liberal space comes after a salary update was confirmed in Congress that will automatically impact senators' diets. This increase stems from a joint agreement reached between the administrative authorities of the Parliament and the legislative unions

Due to the current mechanism in the Upper House, every change in the salaries of congressional workers is transferred directly to the senators' incomes. This occurs because parliamentary allowances are linked to the value of the salary modules of

legislative staff.

The system states that senators' compensation is calculated based on 4000 modules. Of this total, 2500 correspond to the base salary, 1000 to representation expenses and an additional 500 to the concept of

uprooting.

As a result of the salary update agreed with the unions in the legislative sector, the gross income of senators will be around $11.5 million per month, before the corresponding discounts for taxes and social security contributions

Faced with this situation, La Libertad Avanza insisted that the bloc will not endorse the increase in diets and reiterated that politics must act with greater responsibility in the face of the efforts made by Argentines while the country is going through an economic ordering process.
