María Julia Oliván reappeared after 17 surgeries: 'I came back from death'
The journalist returned to host her show after the domestic accident that almost cost her her life
María Julia Oliván made a public appearance after going through one of the most difficult moments of her life. After suffering a domestic accident that left her hospitalized for two months and forced her to undergo 17 surgical procedures, the journalist returned to the front of Oveja Negra, the streaming show from Border Periodismo.
Moved, she did not hide her tears as she recalled the episode that marked her forever: "I basically set myself on fire. I'm back from death, or something like that."

The accident that led her to intensive care
The incident occurred in mid-June, when Oliván tried to light a bioethanol fireplace. At that moment, the canister exploded and the flames reached much of her leg. "It was an instant, the fire took over my whole body. The canister exploded on my leg and this is the finger I could save the least," she recounted live, showing her hand.

She recalled that she was tired and cold, which led her to act hastily. "When I set myself on fire, the canister exploded on my leg and that's why it was so badly damaged. That's where I suffered the most serious cuts," she explained.
The journalist was rushed to Hospital Alemán, where she spent weeks in intensive care. "I spent two months unable to get out of bed. Last week I was finally able to stand up," she stated.
A rebirth with the support of her family
In her testimony, Oliván highlighted the key role of those who accompanied her at all times. "One of the meanings I found in this is that my mother was there for each of the 17 procedures, holding my hand. She became a mother to me again and that moved me deeply," she said through tears.
She also thanked her husband, her friends, and the people who did not leave her alone. "I love my husband more, I love my people more, I regained friendships. I can't say this was negative karma," she reflected.
Meanwhile, she recalled the gesture of Valu Bonadeo, her colleague, who reacted instantly: "She saved my life, because she shouted at me to take off my clothes. I climbed as best I could to the first floor and threw myself under the shower."
The accident also revealed the harshest side of medical waiting. "The police arrived immediately, but the ambulance took a long time. Imagine: in pain, with raw flesh and trembling... horrible," she confessed.

Today, upon returning to her show, Oliván expressed gratitude for being alive and having the strength to carry on. "I'm back, although I still can't believe it. I came back from death."
To conclude, she celebrated: "We're going to celebrate with champagne, no matter who likes it," the journalist said as she returned to Border. The gesture served as a nod to the last celebration she had on air, days before the accident, when she popped a sparkling wine to celebrate the court ruling against Cristina Kirchner.
