Mark Zuckerberg tried to sign the most sought-after artificial intelligence team of the moment. However, even with multi-million dollar offers, he couldn't convince them.
The move aimed to consolidate Meta's dominance in artificial superintelligence. However, the rejection was unequivocal.

Who is Mira Murati and why is her team so valuable?
Mira Murati was Chief Technology Officer at OpenAI and a key figure in the creation of ChatGPT. She currently leads her own startup, Thinking Machines Lab (TML).
With only about fifty employees, TML's team concentrates technical talent that keeps giants like Meta, Google, or Microsoft up at night. That human capital is what Zuckerberg tried to acquire.
Meta's multi-million dollar offer ended in a resounding "no"
More than a dozen members of the team received offers ranging from 200 million to nearly 1 billion dollars.

The goal was clear: move them to Meta's new superintelligence lab and dismantle one of its main competitors. However, none accepted.
"No one accepted the offer": Murati's response
Mira Murati herself confirmed that not a single member of the team said yes. Loyalty, vision for the future, and commitment to their project outweighed the offer.

The rejection left Meta without new signings and elevated TML's prestige throughout the tech ecosystem.
Meta tries to downplay the situation, but the blow was significant
Andy Stone, the company's spokesperson, tried to play down the situation. He said the offers were directed at a small group and that the story is "told from only one side."
Still, Meta didn't manage to add a single talent from Murati's team, despite having put everything on the table.
