Marvel Rivals launches its Season 2 with Emma Frost, Ultron, and the Hellfire Gala

Available for free on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store)

The free multiplayer shooter Marvel Rivals, developed by NetEase, is gearing up for the launch of its Season 2 on April 11, with significant new features including two new playable characters:  Emma Frost and Ultron.

Additionally,  a new event inspired by the X-Men comics: the Hellfire Gala, will be introduced, promising to be a turning point in both gameplay and narrative.

Emma Frost and Ultron headline a tension-filled season

After the dark tone that dominated Dracula's campaign in the previous season, the game now moves to a more elegant yet equally conflicted setting.  Emma Frost, the powerful mutant, will host the Hellfire Gala on the island of Krakoa, a high-level social event where mutants and humans seek to strengthen political ties.

However, peace is fleeting: the emergence of Ultron, also playable, will be the trigger for the new conflict. As the season progresses, NetEase confirmed that more  characters related to the X-Men universe will arrive, expanding the available roster and continuing the storyline.

New features and a faster update pace

The second season will also add:

  • Unique gala outfits for characters like Wolverine, Magneto, and Scarlet Witch
  • Social features such as the ability to gift skins
  • Color variants for different appearances

One of the most relevant strategic decisions this season is the change in update frequency. NetEase announced that seasons will be shorter and new characters will be introduced every month, aiming to keep the community's interest active and better position itself against other competitive shooters.

"We want every month to bring surprises. The idea is for Marvel Rivals to always have something new to offer," they stated from NetEase.

Available for free on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), Marvel Rivals establishes itself as an attractive option for comic book and online action game fans.
