The president Javier Milei called on Thursday to deepen the ties between countries that defend the ideas of freedom and urged to coordinate efforts against the international left.

The leader made these statements during the opening of the V Regional Meeting of the Madrid Forum, organized by the Fundación Disenso in Santiago, Chile.

Before leaders, officials, and representatives of parties and organizations from Ibero-America, Milei raised the need to strengthen the political organization of the right and stated: “If they had their Socialist International, the right must also organize.”

During his speech, the head of state presented Argentina's results as a demonstration of the effect of maintaining an economic program based on prudence and firm convictions.

In this regard, he assured that “when the course of economic prudence is maintained with firm convictions, freedom flourishes, the economy grows, and insecurity decreases.”

Milei also pointed out that the process initiated in Argentina has begun to extend to various countries in the region. “Today we are witnessing a change that started in Argentina and that, little by little, has been spreading across the continent,” he affirmed.

As part of this scenario, he mentioned Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador and spoke of the “winds of change” sweeping through Ibero-America.

According to the president, the continent is moving towards “the values that made the West great, even after decades of socialist indoctrination.”

In this line, he highlighted the impact of the political change in Argentina and stated that “if three years ago the country was a warning of the abyss that socialism leads to, today it is becoming the proof.”

The threat of the left

However, Milei warned that the regional left maintains an organized structure and continues to seek to regain ground. “The left at the regional level has been organized for decades and, in its worst moment, they are still looking for a way to return,” he stated. He also questioned the strategies aimed at “destabilizing, generating panic, and instilling terror in the population.”

The president also defended the performance of his economic program in the face of these scenarios. “Our economic program is so well designed that it withstood all their attacks,” he assured, although he acknowledged that this situation “cost Argentina months of growth deceleration and a resurgence of inflation that we are once again annihilating.”

For this reason, he insisted on the need to prioritize the points of agreement among the sectors that defend the same ideas and called to “set aside our differences and focus on what unites us.”

“We cannot let our guard down for a second or give an inch because they lie, distort, and have the media bought to exercise psychological terrorism over the population. But we are the ones who place the freedom of the human being at the center of our model and who understand that trading is exercising those freedoms and is what brings us prosperity,” he concluded.

The meeting, held under the slogan “A new era for Ibero-America,” also featured the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, and the Chancellor Pablo Quirno, as well as leaders and officials from various countries in the region.

Among the attendees were the President of Chile, José Antonio Kast; the Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy of the United States, Sarah Rogers; the President of the National Congress of Honduras, Tomás Zambrano; the deputy and director of the Economic Office of VOX, José María Figaredo; the executive director of the Foundation for Progress, Fernando Claro; and the national assembly member for the Acción Democrática Nacional movement of Ecuador, Diana Jácome. The welcome was given by the Secretary General of Vox, Ignacio Garriga.
