The Government of Javier Milei strategically appointed Dr. Adriana Baravalle as the new Secretary of Innovation, Science, and Technology of the Nation, replacing Darío Genua, who left the position after leading the area during the previous stage of the administration.
The appointment was made by the Chief of Cabinet of Ministers, Diego Santilli, and is expected to be published this Thursday in the Official Bulletin. The Government particularly highlighted the new official's technical and academic profile, specialized in strategic areas such as artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, and technological innovation.
Adriana Baravalle, the new secretary of Innovation, Science, and Technology
Baravalle holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, a master's degree in Data Science and Knowledge Management from Universidad Austral, and is currently developing a doctorate in Engineering at the same institution.
In addition to her academic background, she has experience in research, teaching, and leading technological projects in both the private sector and within public administration. She currently directs the Exponential Technologies Laboratory at Universidad Austral, where she works on emerging technologies and their applications.
She is also the founder and academic director of synapsIA, a regional network of specialists in artificial intelligence, and participates in research related to post-quantum cryptography, critical infrastructures, and cybersecurity, as well as international scientific projects.
Throughout her career, she was part of the Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity Table that contributed to the development of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy between 2016 and 2019. Additionally, she has prior experience within the National Public Administration.
According to the Secretariat, her incorporation aims to deepen the agenda of innovation and technological transformation of the State, promote the adoption of new technologies, and strengthen the collaboration between the public sector, companies, and the scientific and academic ecosystem.

The appointment thus brings to the national Government a specialist from the scientific and technological field at a time when artificial intelligence, the protection of digital infrastructures, and the modernization of the State are gaining increasing relevance internationally. With her arrival, the Executive confirms its commitment to technical profiles and specialized leadership in strategic sectors for the productive development of the country.
