President Javier Milei publicly thanked the players of the Argentine National Team after the 1-0 defeat against Spain in the final of the 2026 World Cup, held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The president especially highlighted the commitment and dedication demonstrated by the team throughout the World Cup and the historic cycle of the national team.

“Thank you very much Players...!!! Until the end with our boots on. Argentina always on top,” Milei wrote through his official X account just minutes after the match ended.

The presidential message focused on the attitude of the squad led by Lionel Scaloni, who fought fiercely in the match until the last minutes and came close to retaining the title won four years ago. After completing 90 minutes without breaking the tie, Spain managed to score during extra time and secured a narrow victory.

Despite the sporting blow, Milei avoided any reproach and acknowledged the journey made by the Argentine national team during Scaloni's cycle. The publication maintained the line of support that the head of state expressed throughout the competition, in which Argentina returned to being among the main powers of international football.

After qualifying for the final against England, the President had celebrated the victory with another message directed at the squad. “Argentina does not give up,” he had stated then, highlighting the team's ability to compete under pressure and overcome adverse moments.

During the World Cup, the president had also valued the work led by Scaloni and the leadership of Lionel Messi within the national team. Although Argentina ultimately could not achieve the two-time championship, they reached the final again and finished as runners-up after a campaign in which they were once again protagonists.

Security Minister Patricia Bullrich also joined in the messages of recognition. “We love you, Captain. We are proud of this team and what they represent. Thank you players! In good times and bad, all together,” she posted along with a photograph of Messi after the match.

“This National Team continues to be the best in history,” Bullrich added in another supportive message to a squad that once again brought Argentina to the decisive stage of the highest international tournament.
