Milei will meet with Netanyahu and will defend sovereignty over the Falklands

President Javier Milei will have his last day in New York this Thursday, where he will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and participate in a lunch at the influential Economic Club.

The meeting with Netanyahu will focus on the Middle East crisis and the strategic relationship between Argentina and Israel. Additionally, Milei may address the situation of Navitas Petroleum, the Israeli company involved in oil exploration in the Falkland Islands.

Navitas is the main operator of the Sea Lion project, located in the northern basin of the islands, with a 65% stake. The remaining 35% belongs to the British company Rockhopper Exploration. Argentina considers the exploitation of its natural resources in the territory occupied by the United Kingdom to be illegal.

When asked if Milei would raise the issue with Netanyahu, Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno replied that he did not know and emphasized that it is a private conversation between the two leaders.

Milei will bring the Falklands Cause to the Economic Club

Before the meeting with Netanyahu, Milei will speak to an influential audience at the Economic Club of New York, an institution that has had speakers such as John F. Kennedy, Winston Churchill, and Henry Kissinger.

The President will be accompanied by Luis Caputo, Alec Oxenford, and Pablo Quirno, and will bring to the meeting one of the main themes of his speeches at the UN: the defense of Argentina's sovereignty over the Falkland Islands.

Milei stated before the General Assembly that the Falklands are a “national cause” and urged the United Kingdom to resume negotiations to find a peaceful solution to the sovereignty dispute and address the exploitation of natural resources.

Artificial intelligence and return to Buenos Aires

In addition to the Falklands issue, Milei will present his vision on artificial intelligence, which he considers an opportunity to multiply productivity and transform sectors such as the economy, medicine, and education.

The President had already stated at the UN that artificial intelligence and superintelligence could become a new frontier for growth, and questioned the imposition of preemptive controls on its development.

After his participation in the Economic Club and the meeting with Netanyahu, Milei will embark on his return to Buenos Aires tonight, after completing his tour of New York.
