The national government and the Catholic Church will hold their first formal coordination meeting this Tuesday to prepare for the visit of Pope Leo XIV to Argentina, scheduled between November 8 and 11, with activities in the City of Buenos Aires, Luján, and Córdoba.
The meeting will begin at 5:00 PM at the Casa Rosada and will be led by the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, who is in charge of the government team responsible for coordinating the various aspects of the Pope's arrival.
National officials, representatives of the city government, and members of the Catholic Church will participate in the meeting. From the Episcopate, the Archbishop of Buenos Aires, Jorge García Cuerva, and priests Matías Taricco and Máximo Jurcinovic, members of the National Commission for the Preparation of the Visit created by the Argentine Episcopal Conference, will attend.
Although contacts between the government and the Church began months ago, the establishment of a formal table progressed after the Vatican confirmed Argentina's inclusion in the upcoming Latin American tour of Leo XIV.
Milei will have a private meeting with Leo XIV
The visit will be official and includes a private meeting between President Javier Milei and Pope Leo XIV, in addition to various pastoral and protocol activities that will take place during the four-day stay.
