The Government of President Daniel Noboa officially inaugurated the Santa Elena-La Libertad-Salinas side crossing. This is a strategic project that seeks to optimize transport, reduce travel times and promote tourism and the local economy.
With an investment of more than 27 million dollars, the flexible pavement road has four expedited lanes. It has a total length of 21.65 kilometers, divided into two sections: the first of 14.5 kilometers and the second of 7.15 kilometers

The work was finally delivered on December 30, 2024 by the Ministry of Public Works. It had been unfinished and paralyzed for nearly
two years.
It is estimated that more than 100,000 inhabitants of Santa Elena, La Libertad and Salinas will directly benefit from this road artery. In addition, this project generated around 900 jobs during its construction

The lateral passage connects Santa Elena with key towns such as El Tambo, La Libertad, Muey and Salinas, consolidating itself as a vital axis
for tourism and productivity.
According to the Ministry, this route will be essential to significantly reduce travel times for tourists during the New Year holidays and during peak seasons.
