Assemblyman Manuel Peñafiel accused the Correísta candidate of statements made during the debate

The complaint against Luisa González, the presidential candidate of correísmo, marked a new turn in the electoral scenario just days before the runoff. The ruling party legislator Manuel Peñafiel filed the accusation with the Electoral Dispute Tribunal (TCE) for alleged political gender violence.

Judge Guillermo Ortega, from the TCE, admitted the complaint for processing and requested the complainant to complete the documentation. He was required to detail the facts, identify those involved, and explain the grievances and legal norms allegedly violated by the correísta candidate.

The incident dates back to the presidential debate on March 23, when González claimed without evidence that María Beatriz Moreno, linked to the Noboa business group, was related to drug trafficking. This statement was considered by Peñafiel as an act of symbolic violence, loaded with political intentionality.

As support for his complaint, Peñafiel submitted four videos to the TCE that have not yet been publicly released. The electoral authority gave the assembly member a two-day deadline to legally substantiate his claim and define his intentions within the process.

Meanwhile Daniel Noboa keeps a technical and proactive approach, the correísmo candidate remains embroiled in controversies that overshadow her image. Amid this process, González continues her campaign in Manabí, where she toured areas affected by the floods.

The strategy of correísmo seems to focus on polarizing and misleading speeches, a practice that has already caused legal consequences in other electoral stages. Authorities remain vigilant to any event that may affect the transparency of the democratic process.

This new episode reinforces doubts about the type of leadership that Luisa González represents. The political use of accusations without evidence reveals an authoritarian and unethical vision in the management of power.

The Ecuadorian citizenry faces a key decision, in which not only the economic and social direction of the country is at stake, but also institutional respect. In the face of past tactics, the renewing and respectful leadership of Daniel Noboa emerges as a serious and reliable alternative.
