Soto, who was joined by his lawyer, Ángela Burgos Niño, began a conversation with her that, after a serious start, ended with inappropriate laughter. This gesture occurred just as the victim's family, including Catalina's father, mother, and sister, were already seated near him, observing every detail of what was happening.
