A study reveals that one in five Argentinians has already made a purchase on Shein, with greater penetration in Patagonia and Cuyo

A national survey revealed that the rise of Shein consolidates external openness in Argentine consumption. 22.2% of the population has already made purchases on the platform. Córdoba and the Central region are at the average with 21.8%.

The survey was conducted between July and August by the Córdoba-based consulting firms Explanans and Negocios con China. It included 1,085 people over 18 years old from all regions of the country. The study highlights regional differences that indicate trends in digital commerce.

The results show that the Shein phenomenon has become a relevant player in mass consumption. Its growth reflects Argentines' adaptation to new global dynamics of online shopping.

The regional boom of Shein

Patagonia leads Shein's penetration with 33.2% of consumers. Cuyo follows with 27.1% participation on the platform. In CABA and NEA, the percentage rises to 23.1%, while Córdoba remains close to the national average.

The most relevant fact is that Shein has managed to establish itself across different segments. Consumption is expanding both in large urban centers and in provinces far from the commercial border. This reinforces the demand for external openness.

The platform's acceptance reflects a cultural change in the way fashion and clothing are consumed. The survey confirms that the population sees competitive prices and attractive designs in Shein.

External openness and new consumption habits

The Shein phenomenon is connected to Argentines' tendency to integrate into global digital commerce. Its impact reveals the importance of external openness as a response to social demand. Direct access to international products enhances the diversity of supply.

Specialists emphasize that this transformation creates opportunities to rethink the local industry that has remained in the past. At the same time, it forces competition in price and quality against global platforms. The study shows that the preference for imported goods is already a consolidated fact.

With Shein and similar platforms, Argentines are joining the global wave of digital consumption. In Córdoba and the rest of the country, the growth of foreign e-commerce marks a new stage in purchasing habits.
