After Brazil's elimination from the 2026 World Cup, Neymar confirmed once again that his story with the national team has come to an end. The forward took advantage of his return to activity with Santos to reiterate a decision he had already hinted at after the defeat against Norway in the World Cup.

The striker stated that he has completed a cycle with the Brazilian jersey and proudly recalled everything he experienced over more than a decade representing his country. In this regard, he emphasized that he always gave his maximum effort and that he leaves with the satisfaction of having defended Brazil's colors: "I gave my blood, my life, but I no longer want to do it."

The Santos player's decision announces his absence from both the 2028 Copa América and the 2030 World Cup. "My time with the national team has ended. I made history, I was very happy, I gave my blood, my life, I always fought for the yellow jersey, but now I no longer want to do it," he expressed.

Neymar's journey with the Canarinha included appearances in the World Cups of 2014, 2018, 2022, and 2026. His World Cup journey began precisely in the New Jersey stadium, where he scored his first goal in a World Cup, and ended in that same venue with a penalty that marked the last goal of his international career.

In the 2026 edition, the forward had a limited participation. He played only 55 minutes spread over two matches, both coming off the bench. His call-up was in doubt until the days leading up to the tournament, when coach Carlo Ancelotti decided to include him in the final list.

With Neymar's departure, Brazil loses one of the most influential footballers in its recent history. Throughout his international career, he was a key player in a generation that marked an era and became one of the top references of Brazilian football worldwide.
