With the semester coming to an end and a team that is clearly experiencing fatigue, the management of River and the coaching staff led by Eduardo Coudet have already begun to plan a deep restructuring for the upcoming season. In this context, one of the positions the club considers a priority to reinforce is the defense. And in recent hours, a new name has emerged that has gained traction in Núñez: Zaid Romero.
The 26-year-old defender from Mendoza is one of the targets for Chacho to rebuild a back line that has been showing serious functional problems. According to reports, contacts have already been made from the coach's camp with both the player and his representative to discuss conditions and analyze the feasibility of the operation.
Romero currently belongs to Bruges in Belgium, although he has just completed a loan at Getafe in Spain, where he managed to regain continuity and show himself at a good level. His contract with the Belgian club runs until June 2028.

The defensive landscape of the team explains much of the search. Paulo Díaz could be transferred, Germán Pezzella has an uncertain future, and Lautaro Rivero could also have chances to leave in the next market. Additionally, Lucas Martínez Quarta has not managed to establish himself since his return, and Tobías Ramírez is still recovering from an injury. Therefore, beyond the practically agreed arrival of Nicolás Otamendi once the World Cup is over, at Millonario they understand that they need to add more options in the central defense.
