Officially, the government of Pakistan recommended that the president of the United States receive the prestigious award for his efforts to achieve peace in the region
The government of Pakistan formally announced its decision to recommend the President of the United States,Donald J. Trump, for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, highlighting his decisive diplomatic intervention and leadership during the recent escalation of tensions with India. The proposal was released through an official statement published on Friday and shared by local and international media.
Trump played a key role in preventing a large-scale war between the two nuclear powers of South Asia, following a fierce terrorist attack in the disputed region of Kashmir, to which India replied with a military escalation that nearly reached a critical point.
In response to that escalation, Pakistan launched the military operation ''Bunyan-um-Marsoos,'' defined as a ''measured, precise, and defensive'' action, with the goal of restoring deterrence without putting the civilian population at risk.

Islamabad attributed the rapid de-escalation to the role of Donald Trump and the United States Secretary of State,Marco Rubio, who facilitated a ceasefire agreement on May 10, preventing an open war.
"His strategic foresight and outstanding diplomatic skill helped to halt the crisis and secure a truce between the two nuclear nations," the statement said.
Additionally, the Pakistani government praised Trump's pragmatic diplomacy and recalled his previous offers to mediate in the Jammu and Kashmir conflict, a territorial dispute that has been at the center of multiple clashes between both countries for decades.
According to Pakistan, without the implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir, "lasting peace in South Asia will remain unattainable."
The statement also highlighted that Trump proposed replacing the language of war with trade, and used diplomatic and economic tools to pressure both sides, thus helping to reduce tensions.

However, India publicly rejected the Pakistani version. The Indian Minister of External Affairs, Vikram Misri, stated that the ceasefire was the result of dialogue between the military commands of both countries and not of United States mediation.
Despite Misri's statements, the truth is that until the intervention of the United States government, the situation was heading toward a total war between both powers.
"During the phone conversation with Trump, Prime Minister Modi clarified that there was no discussion of mediation or of a trade agreement between India and the United States in that context," he explained.

The current crisis was triggered by an attack on April 22 in Jammu and Kashmir, which caused the death of 26 people (57 pounds), mostly tourists. India blamed Pakistan for the attack, something Islamabad categorically denied.
In recent statements from Morristown, New Jersey, Trump himself stated that he should have received the Nobel Peace Prize "four or five times already," mentioning not only his role in South Asia, but also in conflicts such as Serbia-Kosovo, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. "They don't give it to me because they only give it to progressives," he stated very pointedly.
Pakistan thus becomes one of the first countries to officially submit Trump's candidacy for the Nobel Peace Prize, highlighting his role as a "true peacemaker" in a region marked by deep historical tensions.
The statement concludes by expressing the hope that Trump's actions will continue to promote regional and global stability, in a context also marked by the crises in Gaza and Iran.
