In the midst of the lack of clear leadership within Peronism ahead of the presidential elections in 2027, the Block Chief of Senators of the Kirchnerism, José Mayans, openly raised the need to advance in an agreement with the communist Myriam Bregman, a leader of the PTS and the Left Front.
The proposal aims to build a common front to confront President Javier Milei in next year's elections.
The proposal from the national senator from Formosa reflects the moment of reconfiguration that the Justicialist Party is going through, which still struggles to organize its leadership or establish a clear electoral strategy. In this context, Mayans proposed “to seek schemes of agreement” with Bregman, whom he publicly praised.

“We have many agreements regarding the rejection of Milei's public policies. Besides, I think she is an excellent political leader,” the senator stated in a radio interview. Along the same lines, he insisted on the need to converge with leftist sectors on structural issues.
The Formosan leader went further and highlighted the political profile of the national deputy, whom he defined as “an excellent political leader” who “has fought permanent battles” in Congress.
Moreover, he stated: “Myriam has her own merit from permanent work. I see her as a truly combative leader and I think we need to seek agreement on central issues.”
The senator's argument is based on the need to build a broad front against the ruling party of La Libertad Avanza.
To support his position, Mayans appealed to the concept of “integral democracy” proposed by Juan Domingo Perón. “I think it is very important that we can seek agreements in the action programs of the Government with all the parties we can,” he stated.

The internal conflict of Peronism
The rapprochement with leftist sectors occurs alongside a deep internal conflict within Peronism. Almost a year after the arrest of the corrupt Cristina Kirchner, the space remains divided between those who support her leadership and those who seek new political references.
La Cámpora, in particular, maintains the centrality of the former president's leadership and prepares mobilizations around that anniversary.
The internal dispute also features the governor of Buenos Aires Axel Kicillof, who through his space Movimiento Derecho al Futuro (MDF) maintains some distance from the hardline Kirchnerist core, although he agrees on the rejection of the conviction in the Vialidad case.
In this fragmented scenario, various names with presidential aspirations begin to position themselves. Among them are Senator Sergio Uñac, who seeks to project himself as a figure of renewal, the leader of the Renovation Front Sergio Massa, the communist leader Juan Grabois, and the governor of La Rioja Ricardo Quintela, who has already attempted to contest the leadership of the PJ in 2024.
