Promotional packs can only be opened one at a time, and players are demanding an immediate solution

Pokémon TCG Pocket has successfully replicated the excitement of the collectible card game on mobile devices. With monthly updates, new cards, and a growing user base, the title developed by Creatures Inc. and DeNA stands out as one of the year's major achievements in the free-to-play arena.

However, a recurring complaint among players concerns the promotional pack opening system, a tedious mechanic that could be easily solved.

Opening promotional packs one by one: a senselessly time-consuming task

Despite featuring a useful "collect all" button to claim rewards from the gift chest, Pokémon TCG Pocket doesn't allow users to open more than one promotional pack at a time. This means that each user must manually repeat the opening process every time they receive one, which slows down the gameplay experience and creates an unnecessary sense of fatigue.

"The overall game experience is satisfying, but this mechanic is tiring," many users agree on social media and specialized forums. The most obvious comparison arises with regular packs, which can be opened ten at a time if the player has the required resources. This makes it clear that the restriction for promotional packs is deliberate, which confuses much of the community.

Why not simplify the system and give cards instantly?

Each promotional pack contains a single card, which suggests a more logical alternative: the player could receive that card directly, without needing to open a virtual pack. This simple change would save time, streamline the menu, and improve the gameplay experience without affecting balance.

Currently, many promotional packs only add cards of little relevance to the metagame, without artistic variants or notable strategic abilities. Except for cases like Rayquaza and Rayquaza ex, most packs don't justify the time spent opening them.

A quality-of-life improvement fans are urgently requesting

Neither DeNA nor Creatures have announced that this feature will be changed, but the most active players continue to insist on its implementation as a key quality-of-life improvement. The complaint isn't trivial: the time lost could be spent organizing showcases, building new decks, or facing other players.

"It may seem like a minor detail, but when you open 20 packs in a row, you notice how much time you lose," members of Discord communities dedicated to the game point out. The solution seems within the developers' reach: allowing multiple openings or replacing the animation with direct card delivery.

If Pokémon TCG Pocket aims to maintain its popularity in the long term, it needs to listen to these demands that seek to improve the game's flow without compromising its essence.
