Without the presence of Kirchnerist legislators, Milei will talk about the successful first year of management and the steps to follow

Next Saturday, President Javier Milei will speak at 9 p.m. on national television, during prime time and from a podium, replicating the scenario from a year ago, in the context of the inauguration of the 143rd regular session period in the National Congress.

The Argentine president plans to present a list of approximately 35 bills that his administration will promote during 2025. However, he will not mention them one by one, but will use them in his speech to explain what remains to be done in the rest of his administration.

Initially, it was estimated that the speech would last between 30 and 35 minutes, but now it is said that it could extend longer, approximately 45 minutes. According to government sources, surprises are expected. "It will be in Milei's style and they should never be ruled out," said a figure close to the president.

Milei's Speech

True to his style, the president will make a balance of the year spent in the Casa Rosada, both in political and economic achievements. He will mention the fight against inflation, the deregulations implemented in various sectors, and the reduction of unnecessary positions in several state agencies.

The focus of his speech will be on the campaign promises that have already been fulfilled (in a recent interview he stated that 78% have already been completed) and on the reforms that still need to be carried out.

Another topic that could be included is security issues. The murder of a 7-year-old girl, committed by two underage criminals during a robbery in La Plata, intensified criticism and anger toward the Kirchnerist governor Axel Kicillof.

Another chapter of Milei's speech will be about "the cultural battle," a recurring theme for the government in every public intervention, such as in conservative summits or international forums like Davos or the UN General Assembly.

In this context, it was announced that the legislators of Unión por la Patria will not attend the presidential speech. For this reason, Milei will include references to the opposition, although this time without mentioning "the inherited situation."

Instead, he will highlight the opposition's behavior toward the projects promoted by his administration that encountered resistance in the legislative arena, such as the recent nominations of judges Ariel Lijo and Manuel García Mansilla, proposed to fill vacancies in the Supreme Court of Justice.

Although invitations have already been sent to governors and ambassadors, in Balcarce 50 they still do not have complete confirmations.

Additionally, Milei will invite judges Lijo and García Mansilla to the session, whom he recently appointed by decree on commission, for one year, to join the Supreme Court.
