PSG strikes back and demands almost 100 million euros from Kylian Mbappé

The French team formalized the multimillion-dollar claim against the Real Madrid forward, who barely left his previous team and went to court over old debts

Paris Saint-Germain filed a lawsuit against Kylian Mbappé, demanding the payment of 98 million euros, considering that he employed "delaying tactics" that allegedly caused economic harm to the institution.

This legal action comes in response to a previous lawsuit initiated by the French footballer, who is claiming a substantial amount from his former team for unpaid salaries and bonuses during the last year of his contract.

In a hearing held this Monday before the Paris Judicial Court, the lawyers representing PSG argued that Mbappé did not provide sufficient evidence to support the existence of such debt. They also requested to nullify a payment order previously issued by the French League, which had determined that the amount should be paid.

Meanwhile, the lawyers of the forward from the Merengue team argue that there is no legal agreement that nullifies their client's right to claim what is owed. This refers to a supposed verbal agreement reached in 2023 with the PSG president, which was not formally documented. Since the sports bodies declared themselves incompetent to solve the conflict, the case could end up in the Prud'hommes Court.

PSG emphasizes that their counterclaim primarily aims to dismiss the one filed by Mbappé, rather than recover the demanded amount. The legal conflict between both parties continues, and a definitive resolution has not yet been reached.

The Real Madrid striker initiated legal actions against Paris Saint-Germain for approximately 55 million euros, in terms of unpaid salaries and bonuses corresponding to his last season with the French team.

During the hearing held this Monday at the Paris Judicial Court, it was the club itself that challenged the claim, questioning the validity of the evidence presented by the player.

The origin of the dispute dates back to April, when the legal representatives of the French star announced they would initiate criminal, civil, and labor actions. They even submitted a request to UEFA for PSG to be excluded from European competitions for alleged regulatory violations. They also obtained the preventive seizure of the claimed amount, pending a definitive resolution expected on May 26.
