Rural producers from Saladillo scrutinized the management of radical mayor José Luis Salomón after detecting inconsistencies between the resources collected through municipal taxes related to the agricultural sector and the money effectively allocated for the maintenance of rural roads and waterworks.
The complaint is driven by the Rural Society of Saladillo, which submitted a formal request for public information to understand the destination of the funds obtained through the road network tax and the livestock guide tax.

According to the president of the entity, Ignacio Bustingorri, the municipality's own accountability report indicates that during the analyzed period approximately $1.189 billion was collected through the road network tax, while the reported spending on rural roads was approximately $790 million.
In addition to that difference, there is also questioning regarding the funds from the livestock guides. According to the producers, the municipality would have collected another $1.075 billion for that concept, while the investment attributed to the maintenance of rural roads and waterworks was zero.
The situation generated strong discontent among the producers, especially due to the deterioration of a network of approximately 1,400 kilometers of rural roads that directly depends on municipal administration.
From the Rural Society, they argue that the poor conditions of the roads affect the transport of livestock and grains and also hinder access to rural educational establishments during periods of flooding.
Another point questioned by the producers was the municipality's spending priorities. When analyzing the accountability reports, they pointed out that during 2025 nearly $70 million was allocated to the Floor Cookie Festival, while they were demanding greater investments in road and water infrastructure.
The conflict escalated after the entity requested detailed information from the municipal executive. According to Bustingorri, the administration provided approximately 15,000 pages corresponding to the accountability reports of the last three fiscal years.
Rural roads of Saladillo
Among the inconsistencies detected, the official goals related to road maintenance were mentioned. As indicated, the municipality had planned to intervene in 4,600 kilometers during 2025 despite the fact that the district's rural network has less than 1,500 kilometers. Subsequently, the accountability report would have indicated the maintenance of approximately 10,000 kilometers.
Saladillo is the only municipality in Buenos Aires governed uninterruptedly by the Civic Radical Union since the return of democracy in 1983. Salomón is currently in his third term as mayor.
