The publication of the final list of players called up for the 2026 World Cup left scenes of emotion in various corners of the planet. One of them featured Giuliano Simeone, who fulfilled one of the greatest dreams of his career by being included by Lionel Scaloni among the 26 footballers who will represent the Argentine National Team in the upcoming World Cup.

The young forward, who is having a great season with Atlético de Madrid, spoke with TN and shared how he experienced the moment he confirmed he would be part of the albiceleste delegation. “I am very happy to be there”, he expressed enthusiastically regarding the call-up.

According to him, he was at home with his family when he watched the official video released by the Argentine Football Association with the final list of players. “Honestly, I was very happy when I saw myself there, I am very excited. My family was there,” he recounted.

Although he acknowledged that the news brought him immense joy, he also explained that he had already sensed he could be part of the list due to prior contacts he had maintained with the coaching staff. “It was a surprise, but they had already called me to train and one is always waiting for that list”, he noted.

As is the case with most footballers who dream of representing their country in a World Cup, Giuliano admitted that he went through moments of uncertainty while waiting for the official confirmation.

“Like any kid, it’s not easy,” he replied when asked about the nerves he felt before knowing Scaloni's final decision.

The expectation was logical. At 23 years old, the forward knew he had real chances of making the squad, although he was also aware of the enormous competition within the Argentine National Team.

Finally, the wait ended in the best way, and the forward secured a spot in the biggest event in world football.

The call from Diego Simeone

One of the most emotional moments came after the announcement when he received congratulations from his father, Diego Simeone.

The current coach of Atlético de Madrid could not be there in person because he is on vacation, but he quickly contacted him to share his joy.

“He is very happy like any dad when a son is in the World Cup, like any dad who is happy for a son who is doing well,” Giuliano said.

His words reflect the emotion of a family that has lived football intensely throughout their lives and now celebrates the arrival of a new generation to the senior National Team.
