The retro bet with which América TV wants to challenge its rivals
The channel is re-releasing an iconic series with which it aims to win over the midday audience
América TV seeks to strengthen its programming line-up and compete in the ratings against El Trece and Telefe. After adding formats such asTrato Hecho with Santi Maratea, the channel is preparing a new move that appeals to television nostalgia.
According to Foromedios on X, starting August 16, Superagente 86 will arrive on América TV's screen on Saturdays and Sundays at 12 noon. The decision is inspired by the success that Little House on the Prairie is achieving on El Trece, with its double morning broadcasts.

The return of a classic of spies and humor
Originally broadcast between 1965 and 1970, Superagente 86 follows the hilarious adventures of secret agent Maxwell Smart (Don Adams), a clumsy yet charming spy known as Agent 86. Together with his partner and future wife, Agent 99 (Barbara Feldon), he works for CONTROL, a parody agency of the CIA based in Washington, D.C.
Their missions take them all over the world, always with mishaps caused by Smart and solved thanks to his good luck and Agent 99's efficiency. Among the iconic elements is the "shoe phone," a phone hidden in a shoe that became a symbol of the series.

Humor, parodies, and an unforgettable rivalry
Their boss, played by Edward Platt, is simply known as "The Chief", although in one episode it is revealed that his name is Tadeo. His great enemy is KAOS, an international evil organization that parodies the KGB, as ineffective as CONTROL.
In its five seasons, Superagente 86 parodied films and series such as Casablanca, The Great Escape, Goldfinger, Murder on the Orient Express and even its indirect competitor, The Avengers. Now, América TV is betting that this mix of satire, action, and humor will win over new audiences and become a ratings magnet on weekends.
