River Recovers Two Important Players to Face Talleres

Marcelo Gallardo will be able to count on two key figures in his clash for the International Super Cup.

River Plate is preparing to face Talleres de Córdoba in the final of the International Super Cup, which they owed from 2023, this Wednesday, March 5 at 8 PM at the La Nueva Olla Stadium in Asunción, Paraguay. After the 2-0 defeat against Estudiantes de La Plata in the Torneo Apertura, Marcelo Gallardo's team seeks to redeem itself and add a new title to its trophy case.

With the focus on this match, the Millionaire once again counts on one of its transfer market figures, Giuliano Galoppo. The midfielder recovered from a strain in the left sartorius and is available for the Doll for the match with the T.

Another player River recovers is Facundo Colidio, who was absent in the last match due to a stomach upset. The forward is already in optimal condition and is expected to reclaim his place in the starting eleven, bringing dynamism and depth to the Millionaire's attack.

The Doubts:

DEFENSE:

The only confirmed player is Gonzalo Montiel, who since returning to the Millionaire has shown why he is a world champion, while the rest of the positions still need confirmation.

Pezzella, Martínez Quarta, and Paulo Díaz are fighting for two spots in the central defense and Marcos Acuña and Milton Casco for the left-back. Although it seems that the world champions have the advantage, the levels of Paulo Díaz and Milton Casco cast doubt on the presence of some of the national team players in the starting XI.

MIDFIELD:

If he starts, the former São Paulo player still doesn't have his partners confirmed in the central line. Enzo Pérez's presence is an enigma. The experienced midfielder was sent off in the match against Estudiantes, generating criticism and doubts about his physical condition and his role in the team. At 39 years old, Pérez remains a key piece, but his participation in the final will depend on the technical staff's decisions.

Others competing for their spot are Rodrigo Aliendro, who didn't play against Estudiantes due to personal reasons, Santiago Simón, who is going through a period of low performance although the coach continues to trust him, and Maxi Meza, who had a poor performance against Picha.

Further ahead, the doubt is between Franco Mastantuono, the young gem who has been performing well in the South American U-20 and the latest matches with River, Pity Martínez, who since returning from his injury has shown a high level, and Manu Lanzini, who doesn't seem to be at his best performance.

FORWARD:

Depending on the formation, River will field 1 or 2 forwards. On one hand, Borja has been performing well coming off the bench, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him out of the starters. The hummingbird competes with Driussi, who had almost no presence against Estudiantes, and Colidio, recently recovered.

River's possible line-up:

- Goalkeeper: Franco Armani

- Defenders: Gonzalo Montiel; Germán Pezzella/Lucas Martínez Quarta/Paulo Díaz (2 of these 4); Marcos Acuña or Milton Casco

- Midfielders: Giuliano Galoppo; Enzo Pérez; Maximiliano Meza or Rodrigo Aliendro; Franco Mastantuono/Gonzalo Martínez/Manu Lanzini (1 of these 3 or 2 of these 3 depending on the final formation)

- Forwards: Sebastián Driussi/Facundo Colidio/Miguel Borja (1 of these 3 or 2 of these 3 depending on the final formation)
