Romo presented a project to repeal the trans quota in Buenos Aires Province.

The initiative led by the head of the LLA bloc in the province seeks to promote equality before the law and eliminate privileges

Agustín Romo, head of the La Libertad Avanza bloc in the Chamber of Deputies of the province of Buenos Aires, announced through his official X account the introduction of a bill to repeal the trans quota currently in force in the provincial public sector.

The bill, which has already been formally submitted, proposes the total repeal of Law No. 14,783, a regulation that establishes the obligation that at least 1% of the total staff in the Buenos Aires public sector be made up of travesti, transsexual, and transgender individuals.

The text of the bill reads: "Law No. 14,783, which establishes the obligation to employ in a proportion not less than one percent (1%) of the total staff of the provincial public sector individuals who are travesti, transsexual, and transgender, is hereby repealed."

Romo's initiative seeks to promote equality before the law, understanding that every person should have equal employment opportunities without the establishment of quotas or privileges that alter competition and meritocracy in public administration.

In this regard, the elimination of the trans quota aims to end specific privileges for certain groups, promoting a hiring system based exclusively on ability and individual merit, regardless of a person's gender identity or sexual preferences.

This initiative is part of La Libertad Avanza's legislative agenda in the province, which has been promoting reforms in various areas with an emphasis on the elimination of regulations and state privileges, in direct contrast to the policies promoted by the Buenos Aires Government, led by the ultra-Kirchnerist Axel Kicillof.

Now, the proposal is awaiting debate in the relevant committees of the provincial Legislative Branch.
