Cristiano Ronaldo took a major step in his business career and became a shareholder of Unión Deportiva Almeríaafter acquiring 25% of the institution that plays in the Spanish Second Division. The deal was carried out through CR7 Sports Investments, a subsidiary of his holding company, and marks his first major investment as a partner in a European club.
The official statement from the Spanish club indicated that the Portuguese star is joining "as part of the club's ownership consortium led by SMC Group" and described the transaction as a long-term strategic investment. Although no figures were disclosed, the move confirms the forward's intention to expand his business structure within professional soccer.
El comunicado del Almería
At 41 years of age and while he continues his career at Al-Nassr FC, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner explained the reasons behind the decision:"For a long time, my ambition has been to contribute to soccer beyond the field. UD Almería is a club with a solid foundation and clear growth potential. I am looking forward to working with the management team to support the club's next phase of growth".
From Almería's board of directors, the leadership celebrated his arrival. Its president, Mohamed al Khereiji, emphasized that Ronaldo "knows Spanish soccer very well and understands the potential of what we are building here, both with regard to the first team and the academy".
The deal is also connected to a public statement that Cristiano himself had made at the Globe Soccer Awards in December 2024, when he anticipated his goal of becoming an owner. "I have many plans and dreams ahead of me, but remember my words, I am going to be the owner of a big club", he had assured.

The race for 1000 goals
In parallel with his business ventures, "El Bicho" is increasingly excited about reaching 1000 goals in his professional career. After his latest match against Al-Najma, the Portuguese forward reached 965 goals for the Portugal national team (143), Sporting de Lisboa (5), Manchester United (145), Real Madrid (451), Juventus (101), and Al Nassr (120), leaving him just 35 short of the major milestone.
