A violent incident shook independent wrestling in California. During a Knokx Pro Wrestling event, broadcast live on Kick, Raja Jackson, son of former UFC champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, lost control and attacked wrestler Stuart "Syko Stu" Smith in a real and brutal manner, who ended up hospitalized with serious injuries.
The incident began at the entrance of the venue, when Smith hit Jackson with a can as part of a scripted segment. However, the newcomer didn't understand it was part of the show and issued a warning on camera:"Just wait, I'm going to get my revenge".
Thirty minutes later, he stormed into the ring, lifted Smith over his head and slammed him violently onto the mat. He then delivered more than 20 legitimate punches to the head while the wrestler remained unconscious.
Images of the attack went viral immediately. "The worst thing I've seen in a ring," said wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer, who compared the scene to an attempted murder live on air.
Smith, a U.S. Army veteran who uses wrestling as therapy for PTSD, was rushed to the hospital. After hours of concern, it was reported that he is awake and stable.
Meanwhile, legendary Rampage Jackson released a statement apologizing and revealing that his son had recently suffered a concussion:"I absolutely do not condone my son's actions. As a father, I'm deeply concerned for his health and for Mr. Smith's well-being," he said.

As a result of the scandal, Raja Jackson was banned from Kick and his future in wrestling is now in doubt. Jackson, 24 years old, had a brief stint in mixed martial arts:he fought a single professional bout in 2023, which he lost by decision, in addition to some amateur matches. With no real wrestling experience, his appearance in Knokx Pro seemed like an isolated crossover, but it ended up as one of the most serious controversies in the history of the independent scene in the United States.
