The institutional image of France would be severely compromised by recent revelations about the tumultuous private life of its head of state. According to information that has come to public attention, President Emmanuel Macron would have been a victim of physical aggression by his wife, Brigitte Macron, in the context of alleged infidelity that would have lasted several months. This incident, which would expose the fragility of the presidential couple, would be framed within a crisis of authority that seems to permeate from the presidential office to his entire administration.
The epicenter of this conflict would be situated in May of last year, specifically during an official tour in Hanoi, Vietnam. At that time, while the entourage was preparing to disembark from the official plane, an altercation would have occurred that was captured by cameras and quickly turned into a viral attack. The reason for such an outburst of violence from the First Lady would have been the discovery of a raunchy message on the president's mobile phone, allegedly sent by a younger actress.
According to the journalist from Paris Match, Florian Tardif, author of the book “A (Almost) Perfect Couple” published last Wednesday, the recipient of the messages would be the actress born in Iran, Golshifteh Farahani, aged 42.
In one of these communications, the president would have expressed to her: “I find you very attractive”. This alleged platonic relationship would have generated unsustainable tensions within the marriage, leading Brigitte, aged 73, to a state of such desperation that, according to a close friend, “she saw herself being erased”.
The details of the scene on the plane suggest that, moments before slapping her husband, the First Lady would have read a message from Farahani that, while not containing anything actionable, hinted at a possibility that proved intolerable for her.
