Two years after the October 7 massacre, the voices of the survivors still shake the world. From a kibbutz located just 1.6 kilometers (1 mile) from Gaza, an Israeli woman recounted on camera the attack that transformed her life and that of her entire community. In an interview with La Derecha Diario, the victim described in detail the horror she experienced with her daughter while hundreds of Hamas terrorists broke into their homes, murdered families, and kidnapped children. Her account, filled with tears and rage, is a brutal testimony to the barbarity that Israel suffered that morning.
"We woke up at 6:29 because of the missile alarms," the survivor began, her voice still trembling. As they did every month, they ran to the bomb shelter in their house, but this time was different. "At 6:35 we started hearing gunshots, many, automatic. We understood they weren't missiles, they were terrorists," she recounted.
At that moment, she and her daughter locked themselves in the safe room. "We turned off the lights and didn't say a word. We knew that if they opened the door, they'd kill us." The shelter door didn't have a lock, so she improvised with what she had on hand: "I took a vacuum cleaner part, a leather cord, and tied it to block the door. The terrorists were shooting inside the house, but they couldn't get in."
According to her testimony, between 500 and 900 Hamas terrorists stormed the kibbutz that morning, where only 415 people lived, including babies and children. "They came to kill, not to fight. They went house to house," she explained.
Neighbors murdered and kidnapped before her eyes
While she was hiding, she heard how her neighbors were being murdered or kidnapped. "My best friend was killed, and his wife was taken. Another friend was kidnapped with his 12-year-old son. Later we learned that he was murdered and that the boy was taken to Gaza."
In every house, the terrorists left a mark. "Black flags indicate that someone was killed. Yellow ones mean someone was kidnapped," she described with pain.
The boundless cruelty of Hamas
One of the most shocking accounts was that of a neighbor who was executed while the terrorists broadcast the crime on Facebook Live. "They dragged her out of the shelter, threw her to the ground, and riddled her with 15 bullets. Her daughter saw everything live on Facebook. Then they burned the house," the witness recounted.
"This wasn't a war. It was pure evil. If anyone thinks it's acceptable to kidnap or murder babies, the world has lost its moral compass," she said firmly.
"I supported the Palestinians until they attacked my house"
The woman confessed that before October 7 she had a conciliatory view: "I was a great supporter of the Palestinian cause. I even helped transport sick people from Gaza to Israeli hospitals. But they attacked those of us who helped them. I no longer believe there is a solution."
She also remembered Oded Lipschitz, one of her murdered neighbors, who devoted his time to helping sick Palestinians. "He was kidnapped, taken to the tunnels, and murdered. They were monsters," she lamented.
Milei's support and the message to the world
In another part of the interview, the woman highlighted the visit of Argentine president Javier Milei and his sister Karina to the kibbutz. "I think he's an unbelievable person. The world needs leaders like him, who tell the truth. Because the world has lost its sense of right and wrong," she emphasized.
"They attacked us while we slept. They killed babies, strangled children with their own hands. Does the world doubt who the bad guys are?" she added, alluding to the ambiguity of some governments and international media regarding Hamas terrorism.
A call not to forget
From her now half-destroyed home, the survivor tries to sleep there from time to time. "I still close all the windows and hide when the sirens go off. It's hard to live knowing that your neighbors were burned or kidnapped," she concluded.
Her story is just one among the hundreds of Israeli families who on October 7, 2023, suffered the most brutal attack since the creation of the State of Israel. A crime the world can't allow to be forgotten.
