Sydney Sweeney shines in the disturbing trailer for 'The Maid'

The Assistant, directed by Paul Feig, premieres on January 1, 2026. The film adapts the eponymous novel by Freida McFadden and presents a psychological thriller filled with family secrets and tension.

Starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, the story follows Millie, a young woman who accepts a job as a maid in a luxurious house.

Millie enters a home full of mystery

When she starts her job, Millie meets Nina (Amanda Seyfried), who asks her: "Why do you want this job?". The young woman answers honestly: "I like being a maid, for good families, of course".

From the very beginning, the Winchester family displays cold and distrustful attitudes toward Millie, creating an atmosphere of tension that persists throughout the film.

Happiness falls apart

Millie soon notices that there is something strange behind the apparent calm of the home. Nina behaves in a sinister and disturbing way, which makes the young maid suspect hidden secrets in the mansion.

In scenes from the trailer, Millie discovers a fact so shocking that she drops the tray she was carrying, while the police arrive at the home. Her daughter is also affected, lying on a stretcher in an ambulance.
