Telefe bets on 'The Traitors': the new reality show that could debut in 2026

While the continuity of Gran Hermano in 2026 is being analyzed,Telefe is already eyeing a new reality show with great international success:  The Traitors. This British format, which has captivated audiences over several seasons, could become the channel's big bet. According to journalist  Marina Calabró  on Lape Club Social Informativo  (América TV), the show is listed in the early proposal of the television schedule for next year.

This show, originally hosted by British actor Alan Cumming, is based on a Dutch format and takes place in a medieval castle, with stunning countryside landscapes. The competition is heavily influenced by mystery stories in the style of Agatha Christie.

A strategy and mystery reality show

The dynamic of The Traitors revolves around 20 contestants, divided into two secret groups: the "traitors" and the "faithful." The goal of the traitors is to eliminate the faithful, while the latter must identify and banish the traitors to win. Throughout the game,  participants must use strategy, intuition, and alliances to advance in the competition.

Santiago del Moro, the host chosen by Telefe

One of the key points yet to be defined is who will host the Argentine version. Initially, Wanda Nara seemed the natural candidate for this role. However, according to Calabró, the channel is betting on Santiago del Moro.

Despite this intention, the host has not yet given his confirmation. After being at the helm of Gran Hermano, he considers that The Traitors is a more structured format, as being pre-recorded doesn't allow for live interaction or unexpected changes on the fly. Nonetheless, his commitment to the channel could lead him to accept the proposal.

Meanwhile, the project has not yet been officially confirmed, as it is an expensive production. However, if realized,  it could become one of the most anticipated formats of 2026 on Argentine television.
