The Texas attorney general requested that Beto O'Rourke be formally arrested.

For his role in coordinating the Democratic operation that blocked the consideration of laws in the Texas legislature, it was requested that O'Rourke be arrested

Texas Attorney General, Ken Paxton, requested this morning that a judge authorize the arrest of Beto O’Rourke. The Democratic leader violated a court order that prohibited him from raising funds for the legislators of his party who fled the state with the aim of blocking the consideration of a law that would have redrawn the electoral districts Texas sends to Congress.

Paxton filed a motion for contempt against O’Rourke, alleging that he violated the order of a Tarrant County judge and, therefore, should be sanctioned with a fine of up to 500 dollars and a sentence of up to six months in jail.

"Beto told me 'come and take it,' so I did and I beat him in court. Now, he still believes he's above the law, so I'm working to put him in jail," Paxton said in an official statement leaked by Breitbart News a few minutes earlier.

O'Rourke is considered the person behind the scenes pulling the strings of the latest Democratic operation. The Texan politician leads the Democratic caucus in the Texas Legislature that fled the state to delay the legislative process, and has attempted to raise funds for them through his organization.

Beto is subject to a temporary restraining order issued by a judge that prohibits him from raising funds for that purpose. "Beto's bribes that were funding the fugitive Democrats have been officially stopped," Paxton said after the judge ruled in his favor, noting that people like Robert "believe Texas can be bought."

"Robert Francis O'Rourke blatantly and knowingly violated the court order I obtained, which prevents him from raising funds and distributing bribes. He's about to find out that talking too much and ignoring the rule of law has consequences in Texas. It's time to lock him up,"  the Republican attorney concluded.

O'Rourke and his problems with the law.

In response to the court order, the Democratic Party figure organized a rally for his few supporters where he defied the justice system. "Paxton is trying to prevent us from raising the resources they [the Democratic legislators] need to prevail, and we're not going to let him stop us. There are no referees in this game, to hell with the rules, we're going to win no matter what," he declared defiantly.

O’Rourke is a former congressman who ran as a candidate for the United States Senate in 2018, where he lost to Republican Senator Ted Cruz. Later, in 2020, he ran as a presidential candidate, but his support in the Democratic primary was nonexistent. In 2022 he ran again for governor of Texas, losing this time to current Governor Greg Abbott.

Nevertheless, this would not be the first time the failed candidate has had problems with the law. In 1998 he was arrested for drunk driving and attempted to flee the scene before being apprehended. His criminal record was eventually expunged as part of an alternative sentencing judicial program he completed.
