This Monday, the Government of Javier Milei presented the official data on various crimes during the year 2025, where a strong reduction in thefts and robberies was observed, marking a change in trend after years of growth.

Firstly, both simple and aggravated thefts recorded a significant decrease of 21.6% in 2025, breaking the upward trend that had been consolidated in previous governments.

After reaching values close to 1,015 in 2024, the indicator sharply declined to 796 in 2025, marking the lowest level since the pandemic in 2020, when the country was facing a harsh lockdown.

In the same vein, robberies also show a large decrease. During 2025, a reduction of 17.4% was recorded, both in the number of incidents and in the rate per 100,000 inhabitants.

While in 2024 there were 372,840 cases with a rate of 80.5, in 2025 the numbers dropped to 308,523 incidents and a rate of 66.5. This decline evidences a significant improvement in one of the most frequent crimes that directly impacts the daily lives of the population.

The data, compiled from the National Criminal Information System (SNIC), thus reflects a simultaneous reduction in the main property crimes, in a context where these indicators had been showing an increasing trend in previous years, as a result of the pro-crime policies of Kirchnerism.

Enormous drop in homicides

In this overall context of improvement, intentional homicides also recorded a significant decrease. In 2025, the reduction is 7.3%, while in the last two years the accumulated drop reaches 18.4%. The current rate stands at 3.6 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants, below the 4.4 recorded in 2023 and the 3.9 in 2024.

According to official data, this is “the lowest intentional homicide rate in history for the second consecutive year,” consolidating a downward trend thanks to the successful security policy of Milei's government.

Regarding murders of women, they decreased by 10.8% in 2025 and have accumulated a drop of 23.5% since the libertarian administration took office.

Furthermore, the report positions Argentina as the country with the lowest homicide rate in Latin America and the Caribbean. With 3.6 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants, the country is below Chile (5.4), Paraguay (6.1), and the Dominican Republic (8.7), and far from countries with higher levels such as Brazil (19.2), Colombia (25.8), or Ecuador (50.9).

Together, the presented indicators show a widespread improvement in security, with declines in both property crimes and violent crimes, consolidating a downward trend thanks to the current management of Milei.
