The Government of Javier Milei announced the opening of 15 new sanctioning processes against individuals who allegedly violated the prohibitions established by Article 2 of Law No. 26,659, in the context of hydrocarbon activities carried out on the Argentine continental shelf.
The measure was communicated by the Office of the President, which highlighted that the new files add to the procedures initiated previously against another 45 individuals.
In this way, the administrative progress reaches a total of 60 natural and legal persons indicated for their alleged participation in illegitimate activities.

From Milei's Government, it was emphasized that the expansion of the procedures is part of a sustained strategy to identify all actors involved in the exploitation of hydrocarbon resources without Argentine authorization, particularly in the Falkland Islands.
In this regard, they anticipated that investigations would continue and that new summaries would be initiated against those deemed responsible.
“The Argentine Republic does not accept and will not accept attacks against its sovereignty,” stated the official communiqué, which presented the opening of each file as part of a policy aimed at defending Argentine rights over the resources existing in the country's territories and maritime spaces.
The Office of the President also reaffirmed that the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, South Sandwich Islands, and the corresponding maritime and insular spaces are part of a sovereignty issue that the Milei Government will continue to defend using the available tools.

In this line, the Executive maintained that no one could dispose of the resources located in those spaces without the corresponding authorization from the Argentine Republic. The objective of the new procedures is to advance against those participating in hydrocarbon activities illegally.
The communiqué also emphasized that this new phase responds to a work of identifying the different actors linked to the exploitation of resources. The National Government assured that it will continue to expand that survey and that “it will initiate summaries to sanction all those responsible”.
The Milei administration also reaffirmed that it will use all available tools to maintain its position. “The Argentine State reaffirms its commitment to exhaust all administrative, diplomatic, and legal instances at its disposal so that those who today violate our sovereignty are held accountable,” expressed the Office of the President.
With the 15 new processes, the Government deepens its strategy against illegitimate hydrocarbon activities and expands the scope of the procedures already initiated.
