The Office of the President of the Argentine Republic celebrated this Thursday the approval by the Senate of 67 judicial appointments sent by the government of Javier Milei and highlighted that the administration achieved a historic record in judicial appointments.
In an official statement, the Executive asserted that it became “the administration that approved the most judges in a single year since the creation of the Council of the Judiciary in 1994”, after gaining support from various political blocs in the upper house.

The day allowed for progress in covering dozens of judicial vacancies and those in the Public Ministry across different parts of the country. Most of the appointments were approved with 66 affirmative votes, while the appointment of Pablo Bertuzzi, designated as a member of Chamber I of the Federal Court in Buenos Aires, received 44 positive votes and 23 negative votes.
From the Casa Rosada, they particularly highlighted the work of the president of the La Libertad Avanza bloc in the Senate, Patricia Bullrich, to whom they attributed the construction of the necessary consensus to obtain legislative support.
They also emphasized the work of the Minister of Justice, Juan Bautista Mahiques, responsible for promoting the appointments with the aim of advancing the coverage of vacancies affecting the functioning of courts, prosecutors' offices, and public defenders.
“The National Government thanks the institutional responsibility of the senators from all blocs who supported the appointments,” stated the Office of the President. They also emphasized that the agreement reached demonstrated that it is possible to achieve political consensus to ensure the functioning of judicial institutions.

The vote represents a new advance for Milei's administration in its goal to normalize the integration of courts and judicial offices that had accumulated vacant positions. During the same session, the Senate also unanimously approved five international treaties, including the free trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Free Trade Association.
However, the Government focused on the volume of appointments achieved during the last year and claimed the result as a record since the current institutional system for the selection and appointment of judges began to operate.
