The president of Atlético Madrid expressed his support for Julián Álvarez: "We are with him to help him"

The start of the season was far from easy for Julián Álvarez. Amid rumors of a possible departure, the frustrated interest from Barcelona, and some situations that raised alarms around the forward, Atlético Madrid decided to close ranks and show support. In this context, Enrique Cerezo confirmed that the Argentine will continue with the Spanish team.

The president of the Colchonero spoke with Flavia Palmiero on the program Nuevo Día, broadcast by Ciudad Magazine, and was emphatic in explaining the institution's stance regarding the attacker: "We never wanted to sell him. He is a player we have a lot of affection for and we want him to be with us to achieve titles and victories".

In this regard, Cerezo also confirmed that Atlético received offers for Álvarez, although none changed the management's decision. "We received offers from two clubs and we told them no. From Barcelona, at first, we didn't receive any offer, and when it came, the truth is that we weren't interested because we didn't want to sell Julián Álvarez", he stated.

The club's support during his difficult moment

Beyond the sporting issue, Cerezo specifically referred to the personal situation of the Argentine, who went through complex weeks. The forward was booed by fans in the season debut at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano against Málaga and, subsequently, was absent from three training sessions due to an indisposition. Additionally, various reports indicated that he was going through a delicate moment emotionally.

In light of this situation, the club's top official assured that they will do everything necessary to support him. "We are putting all the means at our disposal to help him get through this. He is a young, pleasant, fun guy who knows that football is his profession. Only with our help will he overcome this without a doubt".

Cerezo also highlighted the forward's footballing abilities and expressed confidence that he can quickly regain his best form. "We are with him to help him and for him to really be the Julián he has always been, a magnificent player and one of the most important in Europe", he affirmed.

The relationship with Simeone and his place in the team

The Madrid official also emphasized the bond that Álvarez maintains with Diego Simeone, the team's coach, a relationship that, he assured, is in a good place. "The relationship between Cholo and Julián is wonderful. Cholo has already said: he will do whatever it takes to help the team and Julián. Together we will achieve it", he stated.

In the same vein, Cerezo stressed the importance of the forward within the team's structure and dismissed any concerns about him returning to being a starter. "Simeone has the same confidence in him as all of us. There is no problem with him continuing to be a starter", he asserted.

A message for Argentine fans

With the uncertainty about his future cleared up, Cerezo sought to reassure especially the Argentine supporters. "Let all Argentines not worry, Julián will come through. We are all with him and we want him here. We hope he returns to being the Julián we have always known", he expressed.

The president of Atlético also projected the forward as a key pillar for a season in which the club will have multiple objectives ahead. "We have to look forward to the championship because there are very good teams in Spain. We have La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the Champions… there are many titles at stake and he is a fundamental piece in the team", he concluded.
