In the first hearing of the trial for the death of Diego Armando Maradona, prosecutor Patricio Ferrari presented a shocking photograph of "Pelusa" taken on November 25, 2020, the day of his death. The image shows Maradona, with an abnormally swollen body, lying in his bed at the house in Tigre, evidencing a notable physical deterioration.
"Throughout the trial, we will demonstrate with irrefutable evidence that between November 11 and 25, 2020, Diego Armando Maradona was introduced into lot 45 of the San Andrés neighborhood in Tigre, without being in full use of his mental faculties and unable to decide for his health," Ferrari denounced to the Oral Criminal Court No. 3 of San Isidro. He also showed a photo of Diego and declared: "This is how Maradona died".

Ferrari described Maradona's home hospitalization as "calamitous" and the medical team responsible for his care as "improvised". He stated that it was a "reckless, deficient, unprecedented" hospitalization, without adequate controls during that period that culminated in Maradona's death. He argued that the professionals in charge of the former footballer's health did not take the necessary measures to prevent a tragedy that, according to him, was completely avoidable.
