A 76-year-old man tragically lost his life in an accident that occurred on provincial route 77, near Miramar. The incident happened when his car rear-ended a tractor that was traveling at night with its rear lights obstructed.
The accident took place around 8 PM on Monday at the height of the Santa Irene area, at kilometer 7.5. The victim was driving a Volkswagen Voyage and collided with a Deutz tractor driven by a 21-year-old rural worker identified as Damián Rulín.
According to initial investigations, the tractor was transporting a pinche with two bales of forage loaded. These agricultural implements blocked the rear lights of the vehicle, preventing the motorist from seeing it in time.
After the strong impact, one of the pins from the implement struck the driver of the car, causing decapitation and resulting in instant death.
