The remake of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, developed by Nihon Falcom and published by GungHo, now has a confirmed release date: it will be available on September 19. The title will be released on PlayStation 5, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, with a free demo that users can download now on PS5 and PC, and soon on the eShop.
The demo includes the prologue and the first missions of the campaign. In addition, progress made can be transferred to the final version, a key advantage for those who want to start the adventure on launch day.
Context for the re-release of a historic title
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter debuted in Japan in 2004 and was the beginning of the Trails saga, within The Legend of Heroes universe. The story places players in Liberl, where protagonists Estelle Bright and Joshua begin their journey as bracers, protectors of the population against the technological challenges of Orbal Energy.
The game had a major impact at its launch and gave rise to a franchise that now exceeds 10 titles and has sold more than eight million copies worldwide. The re-release aims to attract both longtime fans of the saga and new players interested in a JRPG with graphical and gameplay improvements.
Technical improvements and generational transition
The Nintendo Switch 2 version will be released in digital format, with higher resolution, increased frame rate, and reduced loading times.
